The Run Loop in 30 Seconds
- Pick up bounties at the saloon.
- Launch a mission — weapons, spells and jokers reshuffle.
- Clear floors 1–4 and a final boss.
- Die or finish → run ends. Meta currency + XP stays. Run loot is lost.
What Resets vs What Persists
| Resets each run | Persists between runs |
|---|---|
| Weapons & ammo | Permanent upgrades (Reload, HP, Crit…) |
| Spells equipped | Class XP / unlocks |
| Jokers in deck | Cosmetics |
| Run gold | Meta currency |
| Floor progress | Bounty board completions |
Roguelike vs Roguelite — Which Is It?
Strictly speaking, Far Far West is a roguelite: permanent upgrades and meta currency mean you grow stronger between runs, unlike pure roguelikes (e.g. Spelunky). But the in-run mechanics — random weapons, joker draft, escalating floors — are all classic roguelike DNA.
How Co-op Affects the Roguelike Layer
- Jokers roll per-player; you can't share specific jokers but you can buy gold to teammates.
- Spells & weapons are individual — split roles before launching.
- If one player dies, their jokers stop working until revived.
Best Resources to Master the Roguelike Layer
- Best Jokers tier list — the run-defining cards.
- Best Upgrades — the persistent meta layer.
- Best Spell Combos — to make any deck work.
